I had the pleasure of photographing Olivia & Michael’s wedding on beautiful Bald Head Island last fall. The couple met through their companies recreational kickball team. The team became a close group of friends, hanging out for drinks after the games and holding weekly poker games. A dinner date took their relationship to the next level and both Olivia and Michael say that they knew shortly thereafter that they had found “the one”.
Over the past few years I have been so lucky, having only three rainy day weddings (and most of the time the sun would break right before the ceremony). Although there was a rainstorm during Olivia and Michael’s ceremony, it absolutely did not affect the beauty of their ceremony, creating some gorgeous overcast lighting. One of my favorite photographs was inspired by the rain, it is of Olivia entering the church holding her dress and covered by an umbrella while her father looks on (he has nervously been looking out of the door waiting for her to arrive).
The reception took place at the Bald Head Island Club. Before being introduced at the reception the couple spent a few minutes with the bridal party toasting champaign. Olivia and Michael also took a few minutes to practice their first dance in a private room (the moment was too cute to pass up, photos below). The details were amazing and the tables were named after special places the couple had traveled to. There is a photo below of an engagement signing book (guests write well wishes in the album). Olivia and Michael’s book included images from the engagement session on the beach that I photographed a few months earlier. The Mighty Kicks kept the party going through the night and let me say some of Olivia and Michael’s friends were characters. Johnny (as many of you know from other blog posts, is my awesome second photographer) and I were having so much fun photographing the crazy dancing. The couple drove off in their golf cart after a rose petal “going away” ended a perfect night.
